A model for analyzing the efficiency of a regulated intersection when vehicles leak through oncoming traffic

Abstract

The article considers a special case of a regulated intersection in which vehicles moving in the leftmost lane have to filter through oncoming traffic to maneuver, which makes it difficult to move straight. The average delay is selected as a parameter for evaluating the effectiveness. The transport delay is analyzed and its components are revealed. Based on these components, the analytical model «Highway Capacity Manual 2000», which is most suitable for the characteristics of the traffic flow, was selected and adapted to the configuration of the operating mode of the traffic light object.
