Logistics of collection and disposal of municipal solid waste, as an element of the closed-cycle economy
Abstract
As a result of the rapid growth of urban agglomerations observed in recent decades, the volume of municipal solid waste (MSW) has increased significantly. This growth has become one of the most pressing environmental problems faced by modern cities. The main reason for the sharp increase in MSW volumes is the existing system focused on constant consumption. People have begun to produce more and more waste, while the production capacity for recycling in most cases is insufficient. In such conditions, the usual methods of waste disposal, primarily landfill disposal, become ineffective and even dangerous. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the development of a new waste management mechanism aimed at moving from waste disposal to recycling. The article proposes a variant of the system, the purpose of which is to sort waste and transport recyclables by rail to remote processing facilities and optimize the logistics process, which will increase the efficiency of collection and disposal of MSW, reduce the negative impact on the environment and ensure sustainable economic development. Further research and practical application of the proposed approaches can significantly improve the situation in the field of waste management.
